Serenity was originally stone tile.
It took me a long time to realize that stone tile is an amazing source of randomness that can be cultivated for abstract images. This was one of my first stone tile photos. It can be a challenge to find enough contrasting values in the stone to make a successful image, and it is often necessary to desaturate the color so that the values can work together to make a dynamic image. This particular scene evokes a strong sense of serenity as I see a wise sea creature that is both contemplative and content.
